Training and Fitness isn't just something that you can do 3 times a week and do 12 reps of a few random exercises.  People in general need to get a grip on what it entails to truly train and become "in-shape." If you look at all of the greatest athletes of our time in every discipline you see one common trait: Time Commitment.

Now don't get me wrong, if you go to the gym and spend 45min to an hour doing some exercises and cardio and squeezing in whatever you can, it won't be in vain, it rather will not be optimized nor provide the best results possible.  As I have studied and researched throughout my academic career and my own personal athletic endeavors I have come to realize that though genetics do play a part in what kind of activities are better suited for each of us, Everyone who pursues appropriate activities to own body types and talents have to capacity to be elite.  The difference is discipline and time commitment.

What do these elite athletes do with all this time dedicated to training.  Many might think that they lift more weights, that they run a few extra more miles, or a few more suicides from the base line. And though they might do these things, I can guarantee that they spend a good allotted amount of time studying and perfecting training technique.  You can do a million sit-ups and bench presses and squats, but if you do them wrong, they will only serve you so much.  The muscles of the human body are designed to follow a specific set of movements derived from their specific insertion points and positioning on the skeletal system. If you move specific muscles out of alignment, or in awkward motions, you are prone to injure yourself and you are not using the specific muscles full capacity.  The video I am posting is of Asafa Powell one of the greatest 100m sprinters of our generation.  He is known for he perfected starting technique. It is also known that he performs exercises and drills that specifically taught him how to optimize his body positioning in turn makes him  get out of the blocks better than everyone he races against, giving him great advantage from the beginning.

Study your exercises, study your discipline, be a mechanically sound machine!
