A while ago, I experienced a change of scenery and began to formulate some plans. These plans have been slowly taking shape and recently involved a very complicated move and some intricate contacts. I have been extremely busy engineering this next step and the first phases are now complete. The doors that this has opened are exactly what I have been looking for and will be taking me closer to the goal. That's what life is about. Always making moves forward. Sometimes it's hard, nearly impossible. It took me near 6 years to engineer this situation, but patience, perseverance, and hard work made it happen.
Right now is a very busy and eventful time in sports. NBA championships, World Cup, and the Stanley Cup. A lot to look at, a lot to learn from, and a lot to find inspiration. That's the great thing about sports. If you look beyond the payrolls and the commercialization there really are many examples of fantastic athleticism that can be attained. It can provide the goals and visualizations of how to get there.
Thus far having been watching these sports events as they have unfolded. (I haven't been able to watch much of the Stanley Cup). There are some lessons that can be taken from these spectacles to help optimize your own training and your own progression.
First: Have the Heart of a Champion. Watching the final game of the NBA finals was pretty fantastic, Lebron even came out screaming trying to spring his team into action. His effort was commendable. What impacted me the most was in the last 10 or so minutes of the game. Lebron wasn't on the court! To me that spoke profoundly to his character. I do understand the unlikelihood of a comeback and that he literally was alone on that court that night, but this is where he needed to show his heart. Many great players of other sports have been in similar situations and we saw them crawl out of the impossibility and overcome and others just couldn't quite cut the gap. The difference is that they tried. Lebron should have stayed on that court longer than anyone if he wanted to be show his true champion nature.
Second: Never Underestimate Yourself. The world cup has been a pretty spectacular event to watch. I was overcome by the result between Costa Rica and Uruguay! Who would have thought that the South American powerhouse could be shut down by an unknown of the Central Americas? A true testament that if you want it, you can get it. I preach this to all the people I have trained with and trained. The only thing keeping us from being in the same condition as these world class athletes is Time and Dedication. Even the smallest, and most unlikely person can accomplish fantastic physical feats!
Third: Never Give Up! The game between USA and Ghana, Mexico and Brazil, and Belgium vs Algeria are great demonstrations of indomitable spirits. Even though Mexico didn't win their game, they put on a show that has really woken the football world to the meaning of overcoming and playing hard and not to mention upset the tournaments favorites from grabbing 3 points. USA was fortunate, and though ugly at times, they delivered a result that wasn't easy. Giving up only hurts yourself, you don't effect your rivals, or your teammates. You only weaken yourself when you quit! And the moral of the story is to NEVER GIVE UP!
Keep watching the World Cup which will continue for the next month. There's always examples of great athleticism and strength of spirit and body! Find some inspiration and Train Hard!
Every Day... A Little Stronger!
