This week brings on a new facet of training to get me even more prepared for my next triathlon. I've decided to shoot for the Galveston Texas Ironman 70.3. I'm going to start my preparations building my motor to be a monster. A large focus on Cardiorespiratory conditioning, especially on the bike and swim.

This week starts the process and it looks a little like this.
Monday: 6x15min Intervals on the bike. 15min at high speed in an aero position with 10 min slow
Tuesday: 1 hr swim: focus on technique at race pace
Weight Room: Heavy Lifting
Wednesday: Recovery Run 1 hr.
4x100m accelerations to top speed
Thursday: Bike and Run: Bike at tempo 2 hr (hill course)
Run at tempo 30min
Running Drills, Accelerations
Friday: Swim 10x200m @ faster than race pace
Calisthenic Routine, Plymoetrics Routine
Saturday: Recovery Bike Ride 2 hr +
Now this is not an all encompassing routine. Things are going to develop as time goes on. Nor does this include my recovery sessions after workouts and warm up routines. But what this is for me and maybe some others who are willing to take on the journey, is a start to familiarize the muscles with what is going to be coming. There is a base that has to be laid. And the stronger the base, the stronger you can become. Though these workouts may not be the most challenging or most exciting. There is an important purpose to them and they need to be taken seriously in order to achieve the desired results. In order to get the most out of this phase of training there is a certain mentality that you need to have.
When you approach a workout with anything less than a full commitment to perform the routine as perfect as possible, you enter a dangerous area that can convince yourself that it is not important to develop the phase a much as the you really need. Just getting through workouts creates gaps in your preparation, and though you attack your favorite workouts and more active training with 120%, the gaps created with not doing every workout completely will not get filled and they will always be a fault in your performance.
That is why it is especially important to keep your mind focused on your training every day, every workout, and every piece of the puzzle. Take it day by day. TODAY you are going to lay your base, TODAY you are going to raise your own bar, TODAY you will become stronger working as perfectly as possible for it. When you walk in the gym mind ready to push through any obstacle or motivation you will not have any gaps, and come time to perform, you will truly be your best and strongest!
What's your least favorite workout? What are you going to do now to stay motivated through it?
Every Day... A Little Stronger
