We've all been there. "The Wall." It seems as though you're working your tail off and no matter what you do or how hard you work, you just don't get anywhere.  The end of last week and the beginning of this one have been that way with my workouts.  I haven't produced that same amount of gains that I have been. It can honestly be said that the worst part of any journey towards accomplishment is when the steps you take go nowhere.

I pondered a bit as to why this may have happened and really haven't found a good explanation.  In all reality, the workout system that I am following is very good about implementing all the principles of strength training to ensure that plateaus aren't ever a big problem.  But no system is perfect, and when the wall can not be climbed the way you're attempting to climb it, the tactics must change.  Now I am kinda interested to see what happens, in developing a workout system, one thing I've decided to implement that seems to lack in others is a highly adaptive quality. The system outlines what is to be done, but in order to maintain the highest priority of variability in the workouts, adaptations can be made easily, and here I am going to put it into practice and see what happens. One thing I have noticed with this system, at the end of phase 1  I noticed that my gains weren't as large, but then moving on to phase 2, that first workout showed some tremendous increases in strength. So here I come back to adaptability.  Every body is different, and maybe 6 weeks of a certain training regimen is great for one, it may be too much for another and not enough for someone else. So adapt or die! Lifting and strength training isn't a dumb man's sport or discipline, it takes intelligence and awareness to realize when something is working and when it is not. I originally put phase 2 to last 8 weeks, a little longer to push the objectives, but it has become stagnant to me, so now I will move on to phase three a week early. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Chatting with some of my colleagues, they have become excited to see what might happen with this system as it has a different approach to developing strength for specific sports. The beta phase as of now has proven successful, so is the end game going to be just as impressive? I hope so. Leaps and Bounds starting next week! This is where training is so exciting, trying new theories and ideas and testing the human body and observing it's reactions to make it the most efficient machine it can be. For me this is why I train, why I want to be a fantastic athlete, why I want to achieve physical peaks! Finding these peaks of fitness is finding a better human being; stronger, smarter, and healthier.
