Most people would say that summer is a time for vacation and "recharging" for the fall and work season to ensue.  I have had a different experience... This summer has been a bit of a rough one.  I don't mean in the training and getting gaines sense, rather just literally working my ass off at a shop making some money and helping family get on their feet. With that being said, I am back, Summer is over and my final year in school and another shot at becoming stronger each day!

I have decided to try something new and fresh and a bit different than from what most people consider proper conditioning.  I have to throw some props out at one Zach Even-Esh, I'm sure many have heard of him and his Underground Beast program, and I started to play around with it in the early parts of the summer and have concluded that I need to open my mind more to various methods of training and am going to give it a try for myself.

The idea is legit, full body movements, larger variety of simple equipment, and 4 week surges. 3 weeks of pushing then 1 week "de-loading" or in other words active recovery.  It has a nice combination of traditional strength training lifts as well as the use of sand bags, thick bars, ropes, kettle bells, tires, sludge hammers, specific grip work, and bodyweight exercises.  A lot of tools to be used in a single system, but thus far, it seems to do a good job at shocking the muscles!

So here is to week 1 of month 1... Time to become an Underground Beast!

On a side note, with my track and field career officially ended, I am contiuing to coach my former team, the experience is second to none as to being able to practice methods and mold myself into the trainer I want to be.  But I myself do not want to let go of competeing. I still have the itch to put myself to the test, to put myself against others and push to beat them, I'm not sure how I want to do it. I need to make a decision here soon to being focusing my training and becoming the athlete that not only was, but is! When I get into the field of training athletes, I want to be able to do the workouts with them and hopefully in some instances better... it's not enough to know many times, true inspiration lives through physical experience. Remember that, words are often not enough, action brings workds to life!
