"Don't go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

-Ralph Waldo

A fairly famous quote that many are familiar with. It has quite a meaningful concept that for many is a necessity to accept. Too often we find ourselves caught in the mundane, trapped in the regular day to day, buried in the limits that society places on us all. It is simple the message and easy to apply. Don't be average!

Average is a demeaning term that is used to describe the majority of people as a global population. I propose that Average is nothing more than a state of complacency. Average is accepting that there is nothing more, that the peak has been reached. This is a fallacy, the idea that there is nothing better or any singular person cannot accomplish something great is nothing more than complete nonsense.

As a trainer and an athlete one of the most repeated things I have told people and heard from coaches is that if something is important you will find a way, if it is not, you will make excuses. Excuses are the quickest way to weaken your mind and body causing you to fall into a dangerous habit of conformity. The tool we posses that provides the clear path to overcome excuses and complacency is our mind. A strong mind drives the body to do what it couldn't before. A strong mind focuses a person when distractions are abundant. A strong mind creates champions.

It all starts from the ground up. It starts from watching that glorious game on TV, not accepting what you see in the mirror, or simply deciding that you want to become stronger than you are. The path to the heavens starts here on earth. It really has no bearing the experience you have training or the time you've spent in the gym, there is always room to build more, there is always a way to improve present technique. You can always get stronger and you can always run faster. The challenge for all of us is to make that decision, make that decision a priority and act. The limits you posses are only the limits you place upon yourself. Training and Athletics is an investment that only returns what you put into it physically and mentally.

It's never too late, and it's always worth it.
