This morning I read an article by a very well respected strength coach talking about the appeal and lure of fitness gimmicks. 10 minute this, 8 minute that, Easy routines, Effortless moves, etc etc. His response was something simple that today is just an idea wasting away in the minds of society's partakers. "Nothing Beats Hard Work." The resounding truth that projects from this statement is one that has 100% effectiveness. Hard work in every aspect of life will improve whatever it is applied to. You want to make more money, you work harder on your projects and impress your boss. You want a better relationship with your significant other, you need to put in more effort into making them happy. You want to get stronger, you need to exercise more.

Hard work is something that everyone can benefit from and unfortunately very few take advantage of. The human body is an incredible machine that can endure incredible amounts of punishment and stress. In order to improve those limits and increase it's capacity needs to be tested. And the only way to do that is place it under incredible amounts of punishment and stress.

-Did you catch that?-

If the body is already capable of so much, you can't make it better by doing easy tasks and only moderately testing it's limits. If you never bring the body close to it's capacity, you'll never force it to increase it's limits.

Many people think that it's God Given, that your genetic make-up determines you ability, they say it's drugs... What they don't see are the hours taken off the field, the extra drills practiced, the parties unattended so they get one step or leap ahead of their competitors. The elite of the fitness and sports realm were never men born into greatness, they were men who worked harder and took those extra steps to increase their limits when others were only willing to do the bare necessity. The fact of the matter is that these things are not only given to a select few, the truth is only a select few pursue these things. Strength, Speed, Power, and Technique are developed through hard work and even harder mental conviction.

Take advantage of the fact that the secret isn't something you have to buy or be selected for. The secret is to take the time you have and make it count, to not just do the bare minimum to accomplish your task, to constantly search out ways to make yourself better. A great life is earned, it is not given.

A new week brings new beginnings!
