I was out and about Santiago Central today, looking for some items I needed while waiting for my work day to commence. While I was reviewing my goals for the day I sat looking at the people passing all around me and I couldn't help but notice the sad state that nearly everyone was in. Watching these people got me thinking that we're all caught in this world built upon schedules, money, and social acceptance. More and more people are getting sucked into a "daily norm" destroying the soul of mankind.
-Breakfast, Travel, Work, Lunch, Work, Travel, Dinner, Bed-
Time to accomplish other endeavors seems to dwindle faster and faster as the days go on. We get lost in our busy days and forget to take time to pursue other adventures. In doing this, we shamelessly place ourselves within the circles of society and it's values. Vacations are been diminished to sitting on a beach in some resort, power is gaged by the amount of buy capacity some has, and attractiveness is compared to the value of the clothing we wear.
I see a problem here. I people have forgotten the meaning of being human. People have lost touch with the world around them and don't appreciate their surroundings. People have stopped caring about being participants of this world and prefer isolating their lives to themselves and their possessions. It really is a sad state when we forget how to be a part of a culture and walk around with blinders on shielding us from the endless possibilities that are within our grasp.
Sports, fitness, recreation, conditioning... all these things and their applications are more than just an hour 3 times a week to keep the weight down and "be healthy." These pursuits are a way to branch out from the mundane norms of society and to open your eyes to the opportunities that are offered with a healthier lifestyle. These opportunities CANNOT be ignored or taken lightly. They are important keys to creating a life that sets you apart from the rest putting you in a better place, being able to be a part of the world, making it a better place with your efforts to apply yourself to greatness. Don't be an automaton, don't get caught in the daily rut that consumes society, take the time to be different.
Apply your training to something that defines yourself. I have focused my training my entire life into one basic category. Speed/Power. Playing soccer, Practicing Taekwon-Do, and Sprinting. I've always tried to be the quickest, or most powerful in my place on whatever team or competition. It is conducive to my personality, to my way of living, learning and working in the background, but when given the moment, putting everything into it and leaving nothing in the tank.
In the spirit of recent developments, it's good to know that the things you work for are coming together and it honestly gives you a serious hype in motivation. I personally have some good routines coming together, a lot of research and careful practice (on myself) has been applied to developing these programs. Hopefully sooner than later, I'll be able to start distributing them to the masses, and hopefully these programs will improve the way people approach fitness and sport. Only forward and upward from here.
