One of the hardest things that people have to overcome when it comes to pursuing fitness goals is the fact that making gains and legitimate progress isn't something that takes just a few days. Rather, this is something that requires a very large investment of time and dedication. As a general rule of thumb, the body needs to 6 weeks of consistent resistance training (in it's various forms) to produce significant adaptations. I use the word significant because the body does change and progress after that first workout. Yes, it sounds very contradictory to what I just said, but if you take the adaptations that take place session after session, they are on a cellular scale. The micro tears that your muscle undergo during a lifting routine or running workout are extremely small, and take some time to repair (within 24 hours). And well... for the repairs to accumulate significantly to your anatomical build, you need to produce these effects consistently for a long... period... of... TIME. I can't stress it enough. Pick a routine and stick with it til the end. Make sure it lasts at least six weeks and Go All Out! If you dedicate yourself to this investment the way it's supposed to be spent, your gains will become more prevalent and permanent because you'll continue applying the same dedication to whatever new routine you decide to follow upon completion of the first.

Patience is a Virtue

I have been learning patience with myself. Living in a new country and literally building up my life from scratch has been a challenge to save the money, find facilities and a community to practice a discipline that suits my goals and interests. Step by step it seems to be coming together. Getting frustrated and giving up isn't an option. The path we want to follow isn't opened to us, instead we open it for ourselves. The prize is greater for he that blazed his own path that for he that it was given. Strength in mind, body and soul are earned!
Remember that Nothing is the product of doing nothing, get up and work!
Every Day... A Little Stronger
