In light of the Indoor Track season that my athletes are competing in, I need to write them a shout-out for their fantastic performances. My sprinting crew has had a fantastic season with various of my athletes ranking #1 in their respective events and just working hard to earn their wins and doing it with class! Great Job!

And in this topic, competition, when are you putting your training efforts to the test? When are you making all this time in the gym and the effort put into making your bodies machines worth something more than just time? I would stress that each and every one of you step back and evaluate your performances in some sort of  means of measurement. This can be your maxes, a timed race, a meet, a sporting event, something where you can physically measure your improvements and really put yourself to a test gauging yourself against your peers. After all, Who are we kidding if we tell ourselves that we just work out and stay physically fit to not be better than those around us. Deep down, we all put this effort in to make an impression, and that impression is for the better. When you go to a buddies house and have a poker night, or go play golf with the co-workers, or the thanksgiving family football game, you want to put on a good show even if it is all in good fun, no one likes being embarrassed or not being up to par with those around us. Don't fear the challenge of testing your limits, if you never test them you will never reach them. Everyone from the recreational runner to the hard-core elite athlete needs to dedicate a season to showing their stuff. You have no need to compare yourself past your peers, the goals to shoot for need to be challenging, but in reach so the sweet taste of success is never out of our grasp.

When is your season. Mine is in May, when I try out for that soccer team. Make the mark, and work like there's no tomorrow to meet that mark!
