I've mentioned this before, that life is not like a marathon. Life is like that of a Professional Sprinter's Career.
Long bouts of hard work with intermittent moments where we are given the opportunity to show our greatness.
All of life's little struggles serve a purpose, and not just to annoy you and make things seem harder. On the contrary life's struggles serve a greater purpose that often times is overlooked by those experiencing the hard times. More often than not, where there is struggle there is opportunity. Hidden amongst the rubble and chaos created by the disruption of routines and the imperfections of people, lies a calling that can alter the course of life in a simple or great fashion. Like sports, life requires training, and these struggles are life's way of providing resistance. At that point the choice is yours to either accept the challenge, lift it, or surrender and let it fall on top of you. The similitude between life and athletics is something quite beautiful, because if you can create habits in one aspect and those things translate to the other. How many times have you heard stories of Students and working class people having to overcome poverty or extreme strife in their personal and family lives and that served as their strength to become something more on their field of practice? Or the reversed role, How many championship caliber athletes are also very successful business men/women? Everything that happens in life; in the gym, on the track, in the office, anywhere and everywhere serves a purpose of strengthening you in one way or another so you can have a way to accomplish something greater than what you thought possible.
Struggle and Hardship is the father of opportunity. The harder life or training seems to get, listen harder listen more attently, don't miss your shot to something life altering, and don't take the wrong path. If you listen carefully you cannot go wrong and your struggles will translate into your shot at greatness.
Lately I've been hearing a call. Training with my wife, and my own personal training, watching too much sports, reading too many articles, and having way too much time on hands, ideas have begun to emerge and I am getting a clearer picture as to what I want to accomplish as a Speed and Strength coach, and also how to develop myself into the athlete I have always wanted to be. Details to come, the call has been heard!
Lift yourself up, don't stop because you're tired, stop when you are done! And in the words of CT Fletcher, It's Still Your Mother Fuckin' Set. Listen and Answer the call to a better life.
Every Day... A Little Stronger
