How many of us have gone to the gym and seen that person across the floor that makes everyone else in the facility look weak? How many times have you watched a sports event and been amazed by the strength, speed, or athletisicm put on display? I know I have seen and been a part of such instances. These people can serve a purpose, they can help others in their pursuit to excellent fitness. The inspiration these figures provide is nothing less than necessary for others to complete their goals. The sight that the goals we have are attainable is a good way to not just know in your mind, but see with your eyes, the results that we are working towards.
Picture these fantastic athletic idols, put into your mind a scene of them lifting your desired max, or running your desired time in a race, or making that key play in a game. And FOCUS. And ask yourself these questions:
1) Where am I at?
2) How far do I have to go to reach my goal?
3) How am I going to reach that level?
These athletes and people are successful for a reason, and not because of some kind of secret that only they know. It's because they have created a habit of winning and being successful. And that being said you might ask "But how can you possibly make winning a habit, you can't just win all the time?" And all I have to say to that is "Why Not?" Every time you step into the gym you should have a workout written down and the goal of weights your going to lift, and when you start your workout you lift those weights. The key to making success a habit is determining the proper competition. By no means am I saying you need to find people weaker or worse than you and constantly compete against them so you win all the time, that is cowardly. Your competition is YOU. When your train and workout the person you are trying to beat day in and day out is the one who stares back at you in the mirror. Every race, every game, you need to set goals that challenge you to be better than the you from yesterday. Make these goals attainable, make these goals just a step ahead of the last bout and rise. The jump may not be immense, but it will be an improvement. And once you have dominated the competition against yourself, the success you have constantly felt will translate to competition against others to your level and maybe even greater. When you know how to defeat your greatest competition (Yourself), you can face anyone else with confidence and continue this created habit.
Success is a habit created by rising above your own abilities.
Every Day... A Little Stronger
