The road to a fit and healthy lifestyle is long. It's an accumulation of working hard and developing habits. Unfortunately the idea of enjoying the fruits of hard work is dwindling, day after day there are new and "improved" ways to give people the "shortcut" or "easier" ways to burn fat, develop muscle, get bigger, be skinnier, etc etc. All sorts of outlets are releasing new methods to take away the feeling of accomplishment from working your ass off and creating your own results. People aren't realizing the problems behind taking the "easy" road to fit.
1) It is only a temporary fix. Anyone can skip meals and drink shakes, or take a pill that screws up your hormones forcing your metabolism into a hyperdrive. However eventually, the body adapts. The body having lost the weight so quickly, the person then has developed no real change in lifestyle and when the desired weight it dropped the client begins again to eat normally according to their cravings, and BOOM, weight gain happens again.
2) It is unhealthy. A diet that has you plummet your calorie intake or chemically change your hormonal make-up is not a healthy way to change, adding copious amounts of synthetic hormones or chemicals causes a great deal of stress to the chemical design of the body and in the end only causes greater underlying problems than just being overweight.
The people who make the leap to do things the right way, to work hard and suffer the pain to change their life haven't just bettered themselves physically, they have also bettered themselves mentally, strengthening their resolve to strive for excellence, to work through problems and create habits that will force them to make better decisions. Plus is my opinion there isn't a better feeling than that of achieving a goal that took a lot of work to accomplish. It's a great feeling when you've put so much effort into something and see the reality of that work, like, building a house, writing a book, graduating from college, even saving up to buy your first car. Working out and achieving a fit, strong, and healthy body is the same thing, it takes time to create such a masterpiece and make sure it stays that way. Don't devalue the effect and euphoria hard work gives.
Until Next Time! Work Hard, Each Day, a Little Stronger!
